"I like it." There is no escaping the dog now. She has a name.
His smile softens when Jyn looks at him, waiting patiently because it seems like she's about to say something. It's not that, and he's not really expecting a kiss either, but it doesn't mean he won't melt against it. He kisses her back easily, smiling wider. "You deserve everything."
He can't believe how mushy she makes him be. She's probably going to punch him and call him a sap, but he doesn't care. Any amount of teasing is worth how happy she looks cuddling the puppy.
"You're such a romantic," she teases, still happily petting the puppy. She sets the newly named Miya down on the rug and lets her amble around the way floppy baby puppies gambol around on their tiny little legs.
She faceplants in Jyn's skirts, getting suddenly tangled in the layers, prompting a peel of elated laughter. "Is Kay going to help me train her?
He is absolutely a romantic, but it's a part of him he didn't think existed, so she gets to suffer the sappy consequences. Apparently puppies are included in those consequences. "You love it."
Just like he loves her laugh. The puppies tiny paws fail to dig through the skirts, but the layers are keeping her occupied. "Begrudgingly but fondly, yes he agreed to help. Ora also wanted me to tell you that her daughter can come to help, if it's wanted or welcomed."
"It is both wanted and welcomed." Jyn doesn't know how to train a dog, she is going to need all the help she can get. Mostly for her to focus because if she was in charge of training the dog the puppy would only be trained to beg for petting because Jyn goes right back to petting her soft fur.
"The girl's name is Sela. She helps her mother with new puppies all the time, so it is safe to say she is an expert." And he'll send word as soon as he leaves the room that Jyn would very much appreciate any help, compensated of course, even though he knows Ora and Sela would try to refuse.
Cassian reaches out to pet the dog again too, and Miya flops over for the belly rubs, eating up all this attention. "I think she is even softer than your rug. She is going to get a lot bigger, judging by the size of the mother."
"Nothing is softer than my rug." Her rug is still her most favorite thing in the entire castle, sometimes even including Cassian. It is the best rug, perfect for everything. Reading? Check. Running household books? Check. Sitting on while her hair is braided? Check. Having sex with her husband? Check.
It's the best rug.
"How big is her mother? Have you gotten me a small bear, Cassian?"
Jyn is obsessed with this rug, and he's never regretted putting it into her rooms in the first place. It was a very good preemptive call.
"She is probably a small bear," he grins, holding up his hand towards the top of Jyn's head sitting down. "About this tall, maybe? Some of the mother's puppies stay smaller, though this one was the biggest puppy of the litter. But she ran up to me when I went to meet them and would not let me be."
So he was suckered into the Biggest, basically, choosing her almost immediately.
"She'll be enormous," Jyn coos, scooping the puppy out of her skirts to cradle the fluffy ball to her chest again. "I suspect you won't be able to be a lap dog for very long, my darling." The dog rumbles a happy sounding noise, wagging her tail against Jyn's aforementioned lap.
"You are very lucky that Cassian is such a sap, he played right into your little paws, didn't he? Never had a chance. You should be very proud Maia."
Dragging her husband always. It wasn't in their vows but it honestly should have been because she takes it very seriously.
"We will certainly have plenty of space for all her energy." The castle is huge, the grounds are huge, this dog will be absolutely fine with zero cramping.
He's a little distracted for a moment, watching his wife and how much she already loves this dog. He could watch her be happy always. He even loves to just watch her comfortably reading on the rug!
But he lets out a sigh whens he drags him for his sappiness. "It always seems to benefit you, so I do not want to hear any complaints."

She groans, helpless. "She's so soft!"
