"All the traveling you do and you don't share those pictures with your friends?" Another scoff, but she's smiling out of the sheer absurdity of running into him for the fourth time in a fourth country. She shakes her head once more and holds out her hand.
"Give me your phone, we're making you one right now and this time you get to post the dip."
It's a kiss, Jyn. The dip is secondary. In any case she is at least telling him that she intends to continue the tradition in Cuba as well, wriggling her fingers with some insistence. Either he makes the instagram right now in front of her or he lets her make it and considering she doesn't even know his last name, that is a hell of a gamble. She could put anything. It's dangerous.
"I share them," he argues, smiling even at her scoffing. "I just share them in person."
Cassian forgets about instagram for a second, because she definitely implies they're going to kiss, again, and the thought makes him feel oddly warm. He's only been around her a handful of days at most, doesn't have the instagram to publicly preserve it, but their kisses very much linger in his memory. He doesn't even know hers account!
They really should stop meeting like this, but he also can't believe they keep meeting like this.
"I think we should keep it on yours, for a theme." There, quiet affirmation that he also intends to keep up with the tradition, but he doesn't move to hand over his phone just yet. "I am not sure I like the idea of a public account like that."
"You can make it private," Jyn assures him with a soft bite in her tone, stubborn. Her heels click against the tile floor as she taps her foot impatiently. He is the one that said it would be easier if he had his own and now he is being difficult -- which is a purposefully literal and incorrect summation of what he said, but she doesn't care.
She is going to make him make an instagram so she can tag him, but another thought occurs to her and a crease sprouts between her eyebrows. "What are you doing here?"
She is a journalist, this is her job, but what is he doing here.
Perfect, she gives him the opportunity to deflect without him having to come up with it himself!
"Work," he says easily, smiling in amusement as she impatiently taps her foot. He knows that won't be enough, so he supposes he can give her a little bit more at this point. "NATO. It takes me all over the place. What about you? What are you writing on now?"
He knows she's a writer, but the press badge she's got today suggests some kind of journalist, especially with this kind of access to Cuba.
"The change in diplomatic relations in a post-Brexit not actually Great Britain." She rattles it off quickly, used to spitting out the gist of her topic in order to get the information she needs but this time it is simply spat out to move on, like old gum.
"If you work for NATO." If. That's a challenge. "You should know enough about encryption to make your instagram private."
Being evasive doesn't generally work with journalists or writers, trained to dig in their heels and root for the truth even if it seems impossible or a dead end. Jyn in particular excels at blowing holes in dead end stories and waltzing through the wreckage.
"Why would I lie about something like that?" Which, he guesses some people might lie about working for NATO, and Cassian knows he can be a very good liar if need be. But it hadn't occurred to him to lie to her. They just haven't had time to sit down and talk a whole lot. "Private yes, but still existing on the internet. You are not the first to try and convince me to make one."
She might dismissively rattle off her research but he can still be interested in it! "You won't run out of material at this rate." Brexit is a disaster.
