Well now out of sheer stubbornness he needs to just deal with whether she looks or not. "I've already sat here damp this long."
But he stands up, shaking out the blanket and glancing over it. He finds the only other trunk that looks touched and digs out Bodhi's sweatpants, then he gives her a look to turn around. "Should you really be doing anything like that anyway?"
"I reckon I can manage a pair of pants, Andor." She covers her eyes lightly with one hand, fidgeting in her own damp clothes. It's easier for her. She can just change everything in a bit, all her clothes are right at the foot of the bed. "Just tell me when you've got your trousers off."
Idly petting the shark she further questions, "Where's Bodhi?"
Cassian bristles but doesn't argue with her. At least she's in bed this time if she passes out again. Once her eyes are shut, he turns so his back is towards her, but at enough of an angle that he can glower if she peaks.
"He was here, but he went to find Hana again." He shucks his pants off, then his shirt too for good measure, before enveloping himself in the blanket and hanging it over his shoulders. It feels too - not weird, but off, if he just stood there carelessly, which makes no sense because they've gone swimming together before. Twisting his shirt, he starts to wring it out. "Okay." Translation: pants are gone.
There's a moment when the air seems to crackle and the air becomes hard to breathe as Jyn literally yanks the moisture out around Cassian. The feeling is over in a number of seconds before the air becomes a little more humid and Cassian's underwear is completely dry. And he might have some slightly dry skin, too, because she totally isn't looking!
She honestly isn't peeking even a little bit.
"Does he like Hana? Is that going to be a thing now? Hana and Bodhi, a thing. Jyn doesn't know if she trusts it, but she trusts very few people, generally.
It never stops being strange when she whips around the moisture like that. He peers at her and finds himself relaxing when he sees she isn't looking, ducking his head away to pull on Bodhi's sweatpants.
They hang lower on his waist than most of his own pants, and he opts for keeping the blanket on like a cloak since his shirt is still damp, and he's not going to ask her to dry that too.
"I don't know if he likes her as much as she likes him," he starts, making a face. "We'll have to talk to him about it, but he seems kind of excited." A beat. "You can look now."
She splits two fingers apart to peer at him and decide his blanket cape is coverage enough before she lets her hand fall and shifts her legs to make room for him to sprawl down next to her on her pile of blankets. Actually, she doubts he will sprawl, she is more of the sprawler. Cassian is too controlled for that.
"I can't even fathom the idea that Bodhi might break someone's heart if he isn't careful." Her baby brother (who is older than her) is too sweet for that.
He meets her eyes peeking through her hands before she shuffles around to make room for him. It's pretty normal all things considered, but then he remembers he kissed her after she kissed him and his stomach flutters again.
It doesn't stop him from meandering over and sitting on her bed, keeping his legs over the side and his feet planted on the floor. Definitely not sprawled. "I don't think he's going to break her heart," he starts. "But has he ever mentioned her much to us before? If anything it's probably more of a fleeting crush than hers on him."
"Bodhi doesn't talk to me about anyone here he might like." Her mouth slants in an annoyed frown, as if Bodhi has told her outright that he would never because Jyn would immediately harass the person he had affections for. Which is what she is going to do to Hana, tomorrow, probably. If Jyn weren't low key afraid of the Aphrodite cabin.
They're way scarier than Cassian and his siblings, no thank you.
She nudges him with her toes through the blankets. "Do you know how to relax? Just curious."
"Because he doesn't want you to intimidate them." It's okay, she doesn't have to say it out loud. Cassian knows. Just like he knows Bodhi probably hasn't told him much either because Cassian knows virtually everything about everyone in the camp and would ruin some of the mystery in crushes.
He looks at her when she nudges him, expression blank. Dryly: "What, you want me to lay down?"
How dare you call him out on his inability to relax like this.
"Yes, because I want to and it would be awkward if I was the only one laying down." She scoots over to make room for him next to her this time, sinking down so her back is against the soft mattress even though her knees are still bent in front of her like a mini Mount Olympus. She will only use her pitiful state, real or otherwise, against Cassian because she knows he won't actually ever pity her.
And that he can see right through her most of the time.
But they've slept next to each other next to campfires before, on quests, curled up on the back of a pegasus with her back against his chest and his strong arms keeping her from slipping off while she sleeps. She's comfortable with Cassian next to her, she feels safe and actively protected and warm. Plus he is her best friend, even if she kissed him and he kissed her she still wants her best friend to be her best friend. "Don't be a spoilsport, you can keep my spot warm while I change."
It honestly isn't that unusual to sleep beside her. He just feels a little awkward thanks to both the kissing and his current lack of shirt - but he doesn't want that to make things outwardly awkward between them. Cassian recognizes he was kind of a grumpy asshole when he thought Jyn might leave, he's not about to risk their friendship for dumb reasons either.
So he shifts, pulling his legs on the bed and sliding up so he's next to her. He's doesn't lay down, but at least now he's using some of the sharks as a backrest instead of nothing. "The bed is still kind of wet."
Which is why he's not laying down yet. He just got (mostly) dry!
"I'll dry it off once I change." Currently, she is too busy clambering slowly over him in order to do just that. She's not doing it slowly on purpose, she's just still tired and can't be as speedy as she wants to be.
If he couldn't tell she was still exhausted, he might have felt weird about it, but instead he just touches a hand each to her back and arm to help her climb over him. It's kind of a comfort, knowing that part of easy help hasn't changed. "We could just use one of the dry beds."
She's tired, okay. Anything to have her exert less effort.
"No, this is my bed. You can use one of the dry beds, but my bed will be a dry bed soon." Once she's off the bed, she crouches by her trunk and rifles around for her clothes, dragging out a pair of pajama shorts and a thin blue tee shirt clearly stolen from Bodhi since it says Mercury Air.
"You should probably close your eyes."
Probably. But it's not a request or a demand, simply an option. It's not like Jyn does anything she should do.
He huffs quietly and quickly, but doesn't move - not out of the bed or over into her spot. "It's still wet so I'm not keeping it warm."
He wrinkles his nose a bit when she pulls out pajamas, because it's still the middle of the afternoon, but she's bound to sleep for a few hours anyway, maybe even through dinner to regain that energy. She caused a storm. And an earthquake. Because of him.
Cassian smiles a little, but he looks away from her and closes his eyes. Even if she hadn't asked, he would have.

She undresses quickly, drawing the moisture out of her hair and the sheets quickly enough to make her mouth dry as she yanks her shorts on. The tee shirt is pulled over her head once her hair is dry -- no point in also getting it wet.
"It's dry now," she says once she's dressed in case he takes that as confirmation that she's done. She busies herself with kicking her damp clothes into the corner to avoid looking at him as she adds: "You kissed me."
The bed dries next to him, which he does take as a sign she's changed, but instead of immediately glancing her way, he just starts to move around the sharks to make sure there's room for her to come back.
But then Cassian freezes for a moment, before he looks at her sideways, like he's afraid looking at her head on will be Too Much. "You kissed me first." A beat. "You said it was okay."
"It is oka-- oh! There was a reason we were coming this way in the first place."
Completely ignoring the topic at hand, Jyn veers toward the fountain at the edge of the room. Once her fingers curl around the edge of the fountain, fingers dipped into the water, a frisson of energy ripples through her. It also fixes her split ends. Handy.
"I'll come back to kissing you, but." She turns around and she's holding a tiny, slightly swaying anemone, speckled green like her eyes. "I want Athena's cabin to have this. It's bioluminescent so it'll glow in the dark."
He looks so put upon when she cuts herself off, but he's not really surprise. At least it started out positively, which settles him more. Cassian watches her at the fountain and the way the water soaks the life back into her frame, but his gaze drops to the anemone in her hands.
It matches her eyes, is his first thought, and his mouth opens a little. He closes it quickly, still smiling softly as he looks back to her face. A nightlight. There will be absolutely no doubt where it came from and who put it in the cabin, but Cassian can't find it in himself to care. "It needs a tank, right?"
"I can make a small goldfish bowl work probably, so it won't take up too much space." She sets the anemone back in the fountain, tapping it like it's a small child, before she wipes her hands on her shorts and heads back to claim her spot in her bed.
Which means she clambers over his lap again. And maybe she pauses halfway over.
"Okay. I can find room for it." He wants to say thank you, but she has a tendency to brush off gratitude, so he lets it come out through his tone instead.
It's definitely the way she stops right on top of him that has the butterflies stumbling around inside him; it'd be too awkward to look away with her right there, not that he wants to necessarily.
"I wanted to." So there?? "After you did, I wanted to do it again. You caused an earthquake."
Which definitely means she liked it, and that she probably likes him.
"It was barely an earthquake." She has no defense, but she's still going to clarify, reaching up to push her bangs back when they fall in front of her face for the millionth time. Growing them out has been A Struggle.
"You can kiss me again, if you want. Without the rain this time." Because they already have contraband privacy and she is sure both of them are eventually going to get in trouble for all the time they've spent alone in her cabin.
"It was still an earthquake." And he smiles brightly, because it was still his fault and she is still here and still apparently wants to kiss him.
He's only ever imagined this kind of privacy in his own cabin. Even though she says he can kiss her again, Cassian still hesitates, like he's waiting for the other shoe to drop and to get splashed out of her living space. Before he can let himself overthink it, again, he leans in and steals another kiss because he definitely, absolutely wants to.
There is no earthquake this time, even though Jyn thinks this is a much better kiss. Far more deserving of the earth shaking around them. When she draws back it's with an oddly shy kind of smile, a breathy sigh.
She doesn't linger more in his lap because it is a littler further than she would like them to be, honestly, and she finishes crawling to her half of the bed and buries herself immediately beneath the covers.
It's quieter but better and feels less like a random urge, more like something new and normal. His expression when she pulls back is similar, even as he stops himself from chasing after her mouth to keep kissing her.
Part of him misses her in his lap, but the other part finds her burrow too endearing. He doesn't follow suit yet, just because - shirt. He still needs a shirt, probably.
"I already told you. I would have missed you." A pause. "I guess this was probably part of it too, though I didn't think so at the time."
He probably should have realized, but feelings are dumb.
